My First Pattern Collection

My First Pattern Collection

I am having such a great time learning more about surface pattern design with the Immersion course by Bonnie Christine. I have learnt so much more about adobe Illustrator than I could ever have done on my own. I taught myself with Photoshop over the years and illustrator always seemed so complicated in comparison but now that Bonnie has taken us through her workflow it is so much easier to understand how the two programs face up to one another.

I am also loving learning more about the industries that I hadn't even thought about like wall paper design and ceramics. I am always so focused on fabric because that's where I come from but I love the idea of my designs appearing on all sorts of products.

So I have created my first collection of prints, so are repeat patterns and there are a couple of non repeating designs. I have had a lot of fun on the website Zazzle mocking up some products too.

I can't wait to be better at this stuff, I am working on creating with no agenda in mind and just enjoying the process right now but It has been so long since I felt excited about discovering a completely new outlet for my creativity.

My next step is to get to grips with Spoonflower and order myself some cute fabric samples of my favourite designs.
