Introducing Signs of the Sewdiac

Introducing Signs of the Sewdiac

I have known for a while that I wanted to create some more products to add to the range I designed for my shop Sew Crafty, but I just couldn't get through my creative block until I went back to some old sketchbooks for inspiration. The first thing I found was a sewing machine that I had sketched which had been inspired by a floral sewing machine I once saw in an antique shop and wished it had been covered in stars instead. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I adore stars, constellations and all things twinkly and was inspired to create our 'Magic sewing machine pin'. As I was designing it I was looking through some of the scrapbooks that I had from when I used to customise toys and was looking at some I had done that represented the zodiac. Something clicked and my new range the Signs of the Sewdiac was born.

I have spent hours sketching and reimagining each sign as a creative tool with its very own constellation. I have loosely used the original zodiac as Inspiration for the look and feel of each of my Sewdiac signs. For instance The Thimble, the first sign was inspired by its zodiac alternative Aquarius, and our second the stalks have a similar 'yin-yang' design as it's partner Pieces.

Each Design has been hand drawn by me, then scanned, before being turned in to our products.

Over the next 12 months, subscribers will receive exclusive boxes in the post containing gorgeous bits and bobs to compliment a creative lifestyle. Every box will feature a brand new collectable enamel pin reflecting the theme for that month.

The products featured each month will include some exclusive goodies like notepads, greetings cards, postcards, pens, pencils, patches, fabric, haberdashery, stickers and simple projects, as well as complimentary products available on the website. For example, a banner to keep your pin badge collection together, and t-shirts with hack projects which I will share on my blog featuring each month's Sewdiac Sign. If we have any spares after the initial run of boxes have been sold there may be a chance to purchase them the following month.

Obviously, we are sharing the contents of the first box so you have an idea of what you are signing up for but every future box will be a surprise with a sneak peek unboxing available here each month for those who want to see. Each box will each contain at least £22 RRP worth of products but are available to subscribe to for just £12 a month on https://www.sewcraftyonline.co.uk/product/sewdiac You can subscribe as a rolling subscription, with the ability to unsubscribe anytime, or buy blocks of 3, 6 or 12, maybe as a gift to the sewist in your life! and you can get £2 off your first box with the code ‘itsasign’
